Models for Sale/trade

Last Updated: October 6, 2009

I still have dozens of kits that I haven't built, and that I may never get around to building. So I have decided to offer some of these for sale/trade. I am also offering a completed model, which I still have another unbuilt kit for, which I would like to build some day. So I have decided to sell or trade the first ones that I built. Prices do not include shipping, which will usually be just the postage.

Be patient as the thumbnails for this gallery loads. To view the full size image, click on the smaller image, which should open a new window or tab with the full size image. Unbuilt Model Kits

Horizon 1/6 scale Vinyl, HOR031

Batman (from Batman Returns) $50

In 1992, Horizon released a series of kits for the main characters in this movie. This is the Michael Keaton version of the Caped Crusader. I bought two of this kit. Go to my 'Comic book based' Gallery to see how my first kit came-out when I built and painted it.

Horizon 1/8 scale Vinyl, #37101

Batman (Comics version) $40

In 1995, Horizon made a series of 1/8 scale models based on the comic-book versions of many of the Batman characters. Each character was produced in both a resin and a vinyl kit. I already built the resin kit version, so I decided to sell this vinyl version kit. Go to my 'Comic book based' Gallery to see how my resin version of this kit came-out when I built and painted it.

Note: When I received this kit, I realized that the seller started it by trimming the pieces, and there were no instructions. It didn't bother me enough for me to to send it back, since I am an experienced kit builder and I knew how to assemble it. Sold as is .. all the parts are there and not miscut.

Horizon 1/24 scale Resin, #37323

Batplane (Comics version) $50

In 1995, Horizon made a series of 1/24 scale Resin models based on the comic-book versions of Batman's vehicles. This kit is of the 1980's version of the Batplane. The kit has over 40 parts. I decided not to build it since I am mainly focused on figure kits. This kit had an original MSRP of $90 !!

Horizon 1/6 scale Vinyl, HOR032

Catwoman (from Batman Returns) $45

In 1992, Horizon released a series of kits for the main characters in this movie. This is the Michele Pfeifer version of the Felonious Feline. This was a great likeness of Ms. Pfeifer !! I bought two of this kit. Go to my 'Comic book based' Gallery to see how my first kit came-out when I built and painted it.

Note: the box still has the shrink-wrap around it, cut only at the top, so I could inspect that all the parts were there when I received the kit.

Horizon 1/6 scale Vinyl, HOR056

Joker $50

In 1993, Horizon released this comic-book version of the Joker. It is a great kit including the cane, and a sheet of the playing cards that he can hold in his hand. I bought two of this kit. Go to my 'Comic book based' Gallery to see how my first kit came-out when I built and painted it.

Note: the box still has the shrink-wrap around it, cut only at the top, so I could inspect that all the parts were there when I received the kit.

Inteleg 1/6 scale Vinyl

The Crow (Eric Draven) $30

This kit was released in 1994 as a tie-in for the first Crow movie, and is a striking resemblance of Brandon Lee. I bought two of this kit. Go to my 'Sci-fi based' Gallery to see how my first kit came-out when I built and painted it.

Horizon 1/6 scale Vinyl, HOR040

Bram Stoker's Dracula, Red Knight $30

This kit was released in 1992 as a tie-in for the 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' movie, and is a striking resemblance of Gary Oldman as Dracula, dressed as the Red Knight. This kit comes with two heads ... no helmet (front of box) or with the helmet (back of box). I was going to build it with the helmet on, since that looks much cooler to me.

Horizon 1/6 scale Vinyl, HOR049

Spider-Man $50

In 1993, Horizon released this comic-book version of Spider-Man. I bought two of this kit. Go to my 'Comic book based' Gallery to see how my first kit came-out when I built and painted it.

Note: the box still has the shrink-wrap around it, cut only at the top, so I could inspect that all the parts were there when I received the kit.

Horizon 1/6 scale Vinyl, HOR055

Green Goblin $50

In 1993, Horizon released this comic-book version of the Green Goblin. It's a great pose of him about to throw a pumpkin-bomb, as he sits astride his Flyer. I bought two of this kit. Go to my 'Comic book based' Gallery to see how my first kit came-out when I built and painted it.

Horizon 1/6 scale Vinyl, HOR050

Wolverine $50

In 1995, Horizon re-released this comic-book version of Wolverine in his blue-yellow costume. I bought two of this kit. Go to my 'Comic book based' Gallery to see how my first kit came-out when I built and painted it.

Note: this box is the second version box, which Horizon used when they produced the second edition of this kit. Everything is the same; they just used a "generic" box, and pasted the picture on the front.

Screamin' 1/6 scale Vinyl, (same kit by Kaiyodo)

Darth Vader (SOLD)

Of the two Darth Vader kits available in 1995 (both available thru Screamin'), I preferred the 1/6 scale one (actually a Kaiyodo kit) because the pose was more realistic for Vader. Even that pose (see Box photo) was sorta boring and static. So I made three modifications: 1) Instead of having the left arm merely pushing back his cape, I rotated it up about 75 degrees so that it would look as though he is beckoning to Luke (in ESB). 2) I rotated his right arm about 15 degrees forward, and made a cut at that elbow so I could crook his arm about another 15 degrees; the effect is to make the lightsaber point slightly upward, instead of pointing down. I later added a "red beam" instead of having the lightsaber "off". 3) I rotated the head to look slightly to his left, as though he is looking at the person he is beckoning to.

The painting was relatively simple, I airbrushed him with various shades of black, and dry-brushing charcoal grays to highlight. The shoulder plates and some of the crotch trim are a "silverish-black". Otherwise, the trick to giving the model texture was to use various overcoats ... Glosscote over helmet and face; satin over the shoulder plates, crotch plate, gloves and boots; and Dullcote over the cape and rest of the body suit.

The red beam was made by taking a translucent plastic tube; melting to seal one end, and then filling it with red paint. This gives it a "glowing" effect, instead of looking like a painted stick.

This kit has a removable helmet, which allows seeing the back of Vader's scarred head.
